Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov and Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadijointly inaugurated the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Doha on Monday.

Present on the occasion were Charge d’ Affaires of Uzbekistan in Qatar Mahmud L. Mahmudov, a number of ambassadors, Uzbek embassy officials; members of the Uzbek community including child athletes.

The Embassy of the State of Qatar was opened in the Uzbek capital of Tashkent by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs HE Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhiin May. Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov, Advisor to Uzbek President on Foreign Policy Abdulaziz Komilov, Uzbek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bahram Aliyev, Ambassador of Qatar to Uzbekistan HE Hassan bin Hamza Hashim, heads of a number of diplomatic missions and Uzbek officials were present on the occasion.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1997, with a signing of a protocol for the purpose. Since then, the two governments have worked to lay the foundation and common principles for their relationship in accordance with the international law, human rights and the United Nations Charter.
