Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani has said that international peace and security would only be achieved by bolstering global efforts for a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, as the primary cause for Arabs and global human conscience.

Inaugurating the 3rd session of the Arab Economic and Cooperation Forum with countries of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, the minister stressed the need of an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, calling for urgent action to pressure the international community to firmly confront the Israeli entity’s ongoing measures, which target displacing Palestinians from their lands.

He added that the world is looking forward to unwavering joint efforts to take practical steps to confront the consequences of the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and joint cooperation towards finding peaceful solutions to the conflicts, some of which threaten the region.

He reiterated Qatar’s support for joint action within the international community, and through its diplomatic efforts based on the principles of reconciliation, constructive cooperation and living in security and peace, which enables people to achieve their aspirations.

For his part, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine Dr Mohammad Mustafa, stressed the need to intensify efforts to reach an immediate and sustainable ceasefire, stop the ongoing bloodshed and destruction, and confront the occupations measures aimed at eliminating hope for the establishment of a Palestinian state, and work to hold the Israeli occupation accountable for its crimes and war of annihilation.

“The Israeli siege and use of food, water, treatment and humanitarian services as weapons in the war of extermination must be confronted by all means, primarily ensuring a sufficient humanitarian delivery,” he added, pointing out that the two-state solution and recognition of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital is the only internationally acceptable solution.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia Ahmed Moallim Fiqi called for further joint cooperation and the formation of Arab-Asian blocs to face the unprecedented regional and global challenges.

He hailed the efforts to enhance economic and investment integration between the Arab countries, the countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan to achieve the aspirations of the peoples of these countries, and to consolidate the close ties that unite them, stressing the importance of continuing these efforts to improve cooperation mechanisms and move the process of joint cooperation to broader horizons.
