The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) honoured the winning students in the 8th Arab Reading Challenge.

Undersecretary of the MoEHE HE Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi and CEO of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Dr Abdulkareem Al Olama honoured the outstanding schools nationwide, along with the winners of the first 10 and first third places in the reading challenge from students with disabilities, outstanding school supervisors and stellar school supervisors at the stage level.

Schools that were ranked first included Al-Khwarizmi Primary School for Girls, followed by Jaber Ben Hayaan Primary School and Harvard American School, with the student Abdul Rahman Jamal Muhammad Al Jaber from Omar Bin Al Khattab Secondary School For Boys being crowned the title of the Arab Reading Challenge champion at the level of Qatar. Also, 10 students won the second to tenth places in this contest.

Director of Curriculum and Learning Resources Department at MoEHE Sarah Issa Al Shuraim noted the critical role of the reading challenge in the Arab region, in terms of graduating a contingent of pioneering students, whose number has reached over 148 students from both genders hailing from 363 public and private schools.

Shuraim congratulated the winners for their immeasurable steadfast performance, perseverance and proclivities for reading, praising the efforts of the curators and those operating in Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and wished them further success.

For his part, Dr Abdulkareem Al Olama urged the student parents to essentially educate them in their early stage of childhood with the aim of expanding their knowledge and help them internalise simple reading skills, since the Arabic language is rich in words unlike any other language.
