The Al Rayyan Municipality, represented by the Health Control Department of the Municipal Control Department, carried out 2,700 inspection tours inside the food establishments in Al Sailiya Central Market in November and December 2021.
The tours included the inspection of vegetables, fruits, fish and meat stores, slaughterhouses, and all food establishments.
As a result, 14 seizure records were issued in violation of Law No 8 of 1990 regarding the regulation of human food control, and the closure of a violating food establishment.
During the inspections, 44 food samples were withdrawn and sent to the central laboratory to ensure their compliance with health specifications while 121 sorting records of foodstuffs imported from abroad through the ports were also inspected and complaints received by the unit were examined and legal measures were taken on them.
The competent department inspected vegetables and fruits during that period, which resulted in the destruction of 207,777 tonnes of vegetables and fruits unfit for human consumption.
On its part, the Health Control Department of the Municipal Control Department in Al Daayen Municipality conducted 455 inspection tours of food establishments in December, which resulted in issuing 20 violation reports in accordance with the provisions of Law No 8 of 1990 regarding the regulation of human food control and the closure of a violating food establishment.
