QATAR Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has activated its Disaster Management Center to outline an immediate humanitarian intervention plan in response to the huge explosion in Beirut, Lebanon.
An emergency meeting was held with Ali bin Hassan Al Hammadi, secretary-general of QRCS, Eng Ibrahim Abdullah Al Maliki, chief executive director and acting director of the Relief and International Development Division, and the relevant heads of department to review the destruction in Beirut and decide on the required aid, to be delivered in cooperation with the Lebanese Red Cross and the office of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in Beirut.
