Qatar Charity (QC) has signed three agreements with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) and the Arabian Medical Relief (AMR) to boost existing cooperation and coordination on projects and assistance for Syrian refugees and those affected by the Syrian crisis.
These agreements come as part of Qatar Charity’s efforts made to strengthen its relations with its partners in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The pacts included a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and a cooperation agreement on orphan care between Qatar Charity and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO).
The MoU aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two parties, which has been lasting for several years, considering that the JHCO is the body authorised to oversee and coordinate relief projects in Jordan, and improve cooperation between them to implement more programs and joint projects and develop existing programs and projects.
The cooperation agreement aims to coordinate efforts on social welfare, the sponsorship of orphans, low-income families, students, and people with special needs to benefit refugees living in Jordan and the members of the local community.
The agreements were signed by Yousef bin Ahmed al Kuwari, CEO of Qatar Charity, Ayman al Mufleh, Secretary-General of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) and Qatar Charity Medical Center.
Believing in the importance of medical relief work to reduce the spread of diseases and epidemics in refugee camps, Qatar Charity, Arabian Medical Relief, and Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization have signed a contract to operate the Qatar Charity Medical Center in the Zaatari refugee camp, which was established by Qatar Charity in cooperation with Arabian Medical Relief,to continue providing medical care to Syrian refugees in the camp for another year.
Under the signed contract, Qatar Charity shall provide expenses for operating the center (staff, medicines, and medical and technical supplies), while the Arabian Medical Relief shall manage the center. However, the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization shall facilitate procedures for remittances and disbursement.
The deal was inked by Yousef bin Ahmed al Kuwari, CEO of Qatar Charity, Dr Awni al Bashir, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arabian Medical Relief, and Ayman al Mufleh, Secretary-General of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization.
The Qatar Charity Medical Center, which is one of the largest medical centers in Zaatari camp, includes various specialised clinics such as general medicine,dentistry, a pharmacy, and laboratory. It started operations in 2017.
Dr Awni al Bashir, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arabian Medical Relief (AMR), expressed his delight at signing the deal for operating the Qatar Charity Medical Center in the Zaatarifor another year.
"This pact is an affirmation of partnership and cooperation with Qatar Charity, with an increase in support for Syrian refugees, including providing treatment for chronic diseases,” al Bashir noted.
Over the past three years, the centre has received between 400 and 500 cases per day, offering themfree diagnostic, laboratory, radiology, and treatment services due tothe support by provided by the people in Qatar through Qatar Charity.
At the end of his statement, he thanked the Qatari leadership, government, people, and Qatar Charity for supporting the refugees and the needy, which falls within the framework of the humanitarian charitable role of Qatar worldwide.
