THE Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani and President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic held a bilateral meeting at the Elysee Palace on Friday.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed means of enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries and promoting it to the highest levels, especially in the areas of economy, trade, joint military and security, as well as cultural and scientific exchange, agriculture and environment, and joint cooperation in sports activities in both countries, particularly the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar, and the 2024 Olympics in France.
The meeting discussed the efforts of the State of Qatar and the French Republic in the fight against terrorism and its financing in accordance with the letter of intent signed by the two countries in Doha in December last year and the establishment of a road map to coordinate their ongoing efforts in this field.
HH the Amir and the French president also discussed a number of emerging issues at the regional and international levels, especially the Gulf crisis, the humanitarian challenges and the security situation in Palestine, Syria, Libya and Yemen.
HH the Amir also attended a lunch banquet hosted by President Macron in honour of His Highness and the accompanying delegation at the Elysee Palace on Wednesday. The banquet was attended by a number of ministers and senior officials from the French side.
