UN Security Council Holds Emergency Meeting to Discuss Situation in Venezuela



New York, (QNA) - The UN Security Council has held an emergency meeting to discuss the political and humanitarian situation in Venezuela, which has been living for six weeks in a wave of protests to denounce the political, economic and humanitarian situation in the country.

The meeting, which was held at the request of the United States, focused on the latest political and social developments in Venezuela, where Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro extended the state of emergency for the seventh time in his country.

With dozens of deaths and the arrest of hundreds "We're starting to see serious instability in Venezuela," US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley told a news briefing after the meeting.

Haley stressed that the Venezuelan authorities must respect the Constitution and allow the National Assembly to continue its work, adding that the authorities must respect the Venezuelan people and hold free and transparent elections. (QNA)
