Suspended policy mandating hotel stay for Indians, Iranians and Pakistanis seems to be reactivated

Discover Qatar has re-introduced a hotel-search function on its visa-on-arrival page, pointing to the reactivation of a “suspended” entry requirement on certain nationalities arriving in Qatar.
Discover Qatar had previously announced — and subsequently withdrawn — a policy that made it mandatory for Indian, Iranian and Pakistani nationals to book a hotel stay for the entire duration of their stay to qualify for a visa-on-arrival from Thursday (April 14).
The page had a hotel search feature, which along with the policy was pulled out on April 6, a day after the existence of such a policy was first reported by the local media.
The hotel search function has now resurfaced on the page, along with a link to the entry-visa section of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) website. The MoI page enables users to find out the on-arrival visa requirements for arrivals from each of the 80 eligible countries. Searches under India, Iran and Pakistan, indeed, show hotel reservation as one of the requirements for visa-on-arrival. That requirement is, however, not applicable for nationals arriving from other countries such as the Philippines, Nepal or Sri Lanka.
There has been no official announcement from the ministry in this regard.
