The council praised HH the Emir's vision at the local and foreign levels as an approach for work, motivation for achievement and helpful guide for the council in performing its duties for the nation and citizens.
The council expressed its appreciation to the people of Qatar and their unity behind its leadership, as well as to the residents of Qatar for the show of firm and strong will in the face of the unjust siege imposed on the country.
The council said it would intensify its efforts in the near future with the parliaments of friendly countries as well as international parliamentary unions to strengthen the ties between peoples and promote cooperation between them in order to maintain security and stability in the region.
The Advisory Council highlighted the legislative renaissance that the country will see in the coming period and the close cooperation that is required between the council and the government in order to accelerate discussions on major laws that are currently under review by the council as well as those that will be referred to it in the future.
The council then reviewed its agenda and formed five permanent committees.
The committees are Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee, Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, Services and Public Facilities Committee, Internal and Foreign Affairs Committee and Cultural and Media Affairs Committee.
Commenting on the proposal of member Mohammed al Sulaity on the need for a Human Rights Committee, Council member Hind al Muftah said that forming such panel at the council has become a necessity due to the current challenges in the country.
She added that panels such as Human Rights Committee are among priorities of the council which do not require formal proposals, feasibility study or other procedures.
She proposed that such panels can first be temporary committees or subcommittees which can be modified in a later stage.
