QATAR is set to host the 3rd International Conference for Primary Healthcare titled 'Healthier Communities Brighter Future' in Doha from November 17, Managing Director of Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) Dr Mariam Abdul Malik announced on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference at Hilton Doha, Dr Malik said that the three-day conference will see participation of health care experts from countries around the world, including the UK, Canada, United States, Australia, Oman, Kuwait and Lebanon among others.
The upcoming event is the first major conference being organised by the PHCC after its establishment as an independent corporation and third meeting on primary health care to be held in Qatar.
Explaining the objectives of the conference Dr Malek said,"The proposed conference aims at boosting primary health care and reviewing medical developments in terms of research. It is also intended to raise awareness of healthy lifestyles within communities."
She added,"This important conference is expected to have a worldwide participation of around 750 professionals related to the field of public health. Around 58 seminars and scientific lectures are also scheduled to be reviewed during this congregation of medical experts.
The conference will also discuss 58 local and global working papers.
Health experts from PHCC, the Ministry of Public Health, Qatar University, Weill Cornell Qatar College, Sidra Research Center, and Calgary College of Nursing will take part in the conference.
HMC is the strategic partner of the conference while Ooredoo and Qatar National Bank are sponsoring the conference.
Meanwhile, about a dozen pharmaceutical companies have agreed to participate in an exhibition to showcase their latest innovations in the field of medicine on the sidelines of the conference.
