Sbe has announced the appointment of Axel Gasser as general manager of the company's first hotel in the Middle East, Mondrian Doha.

A veteran in the hospitality space, Gasser joins Mondrian Doha from Starwood Hotels & Resorts where he was Complex General Manager at Westin Snowmass Resort in Colorado, USA. Prior to that, he spent four years in Miami as Managing Director of the Mayfair Hotel & Spa as well as Area General Manager of Jordache Hotels. Previous positions also include general manager roles at ASI Hotels & Resorts in Austria, and various general manager appointments with Marriott Hotels. His accomplishments include the relaunch of an iconic resort which later became one of the top hotels in Miami along with several successful new openings for both branded and independent high end luxury hotels.
Gasser has an exceptional newly formed team beneath him with an executive committee made up of Hotel Manager Duncan Gray, Sales and Marketing Director Mikel Ibrahim, Brand Experience Director Milad Badri, Executive Chef Simon John Winchester and Food and Beverage Director Sadbir Sharma.
Located in the heart of West Bay, the 270-room Mondrian Doha, is designed in collaboration with world-renowned Dutch designer Marcel Wanders, and Southwest Architecture. The property incorporates customised Marcel Wanders design features with influences from local patterns, ornate Arabic writing and historic souqs.
