Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) has organised a free legal workshop for all administrative officials in Qatar with the aim of helping them understand and protect their rights.
Titled"legal for non-legal professionals", the workshop comes in the backdrop of the blockade imposed on Qatar by the Saudi/UAE-bloc. It was organised in cooperation with the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC).
The objective of the workshop, delivered by QICDRC senior legal counsel Dr Zain al Abdin Sharar, was to familiarise the participants with the science of law, its types, terminology, nature and characteristics, besides helping them understand the types of contracts and contractual responsibilities.
QFBA Acting CEO Dr Mohammed Abdullah al Emadi said,"QFBA and the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre are adopting an innovative approach to introducing the law in terms of its types, sources and principles through the launch of a specialised legal course. Its aim is to spread this culture among members of the community and is done so that they can understand and protect their rights.
"In order to activate the role of law in society, it is important to study it, understand its objectives as well as its role in protecting individuals and securing the stability of society and the achievement of its economic objectives. These are the goals we sought to achieve through the 'legal for non-legal professionals' workshop."
QICDRC Chief Executive Officer Faisal Rashid al Sahouti said,"One of the most important foundations of prosperity and progress of a society is its stability and security. This can only be achieved through an effective law system that provides justice and protect the interests of individuals from infringement. Hence, there is the need to educate individuals about the law.
"The 'legal for non-legal professionals' workshop came within this context. It has highlighted laws and their functions, as well as alternatives to dispute settlement, in addition to a number of related topics."
At the end of the workshop, participants were given certificates of participation by the acting CEO of QFBA and the Executive Director of QICDRC.
