Qatar beach volleyball teams begin Asia Pacific Championship with win


Sumatra: Qatar beach volleyball team started its campaign at the 2017 Asia Pacific beach volleyball championship, which is being held in Indonesia until October 22, with two victories. Qatar is represented at the championship with two teams; Qatar A and Qatar B. Qatar A beat Indonesia 3 team 2-0 in a Group B game and will face New Zealand 1 on Friday in the last match of the championship's first round. Meanwhile, Qatar B won 2-0 against Indonesia 2 in Group C and are set to face Thailand 2 on Friday. Qatar B have won the Grand Osaka Asian (Masters), which was held in Japan, after defeating Indonesia 2 in the final game. Qatar's beach volleyball team are 12th in the world ranking after the A team qualified for the round of 16 in the recent world championship in Austria and lost to the host nation. The A team, comprising Younousse and Jefferson Pereira, played strong and competitive matches during the tournament and managed 480 points. (QNA)
