Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Dr Ali bin Smaikh al Marri met in Geneva on Saturday with the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the negative impact of the unilateral coercive measures, Idriss Jazairy, in the context of the consequences of the unilateral coercive siege measures against the State of Qatar regarding the massive violations of human rights.
During the meeting, Dr al Marri gave the Special Rapporteur all the reports and complaints that the NHRC has monitored so far as a result of the siege on the State of Qatar.
The NHRC chairman said that the Committee has documented a large number of violations on the siege counties, which led to the prevention of Qatari citizens to travel or check on their property in those countries, causing the loss of investments.
Dr al Marri called for the importance of activating the necessary mechanisms to strengthen accountability, whether through the United Nations or other competent organisations.
For his part, the Special Rapporteur on the negative impact of the unilateral coercive measures promised to take the necessary measures in accordance with his terms of reference.
