THE Ministry of Education and Higher Education's summer camps started at eight centres on Sunday, targeting Qatari and expatriate students aged 6 to 18 years.
The ministry is organising a number of extracurricular activities during the summer holidays as it invests in the students' free time to positively benefit them.
The camps are scheduled to run until August 17 covering cultural, intellectual, social, sports, artistic, entertainment, educational and technological fields so as to help students develop their skills and talents.
Parents can also participate with their children in some summer activities such as events and field trips.
The summer camps aim to raise a new generation in an integrated manner in the economic, social and cultural fields, and teach them about environment preservation, religious values and traditions and heritage.
Fawzia al Khater, assistant undersecretary for educational affairs at the ministry, opened the summer activity centre at Hafsa Preparatory School for Girls on Sunday. She urged Qatari and resident parents to enrol their children at the centres and allow them to enjoy various activities. She noted that summer centres help students build relationships with new colleagues and allow them to learn from one another. (QNA)
