AS part of celebrations to commemorate the third International Day of Yoga scheduled on June 21, the Embassy of India and Indian Sports Centre (ISC) conducted a session on yoga and wellness for the Indian community based at Al Khor, at Al Waha Club ballroom,recently.
The session was inaugurated by Ambassador of India to Qatar HE P Kumaran and was attended by more than 150 adults and children of Al Khor community. Various types of guided and therapeutic asanas session was narrated and demonstrated by Nisha Agrawal and Sujata Fernandes which was followed by more yoga asanas by 'Yoga in Doha' instructor.
The session was concluded by a demonstration of guided meditation for 'keeping the mind calm' by Padmini Sundar a volunteer of 'Heartfulness'. The ambassador along with ISC officials also joined in practicing the yogasanas.
Inaugurating the yoga session, the ambassador expressed the benefits of yoga for the healthy body and mind and urged to adopt such techniques to eliminate the effect of stress in our daily life.
ISC president Nilangshu Dey highlighted the role of ISC in promoting yoga among the Indian community and recently conducted yoga championship for school students in order to inculcate the culture of yoga among the children from their early childhood.
Bharati president Parekh welcomed the audience and the programme was compered by Habibun Nabi.
