The Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani and Somalia President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmajo discussed bilateral relations and the means of enhancing them in various fields at a meeting in Doha on Thursday.
The Somali president briefed the Emir on the latest developments in Somalia, especially his efforts to build a secure, unified and stable state and achieve sustainable development. The Emir said Qatar will support the Somali government budget and several development projects in Somalia.
The Somali president thanked and appreciated the Emir for the efforts being made by Qatar to support the brotherly Somali people as well as for providing humanitarian aid.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani said talks between the Emir and Somali president were successful and fruitful.
He stressed Qatar's support for the Somali government in its efforts to combat terrorism and extremism. The FM also condemned recent criminal acts that threatened the security and stability of Somalia.
He said the meeting agreed upon Qatar's support for the budget of the Somali government, which will begin this month.
