General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation-(Katara) Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti met Ambassador of Cuba to Qatar HE Emilio Caballero Rodriguez, during the latter's visit to Katara on Thursday.
The meeting was held with an aim to enhance cultural ties between Qatar and Cuba through cooperation between the two countries' cultural entities.
During the visit, the Cuban ambassador also presented a proposal to the Katara GM to host a fine-art exhibition by one of the most prominent Cuban artists in October, 2017, coinciding with the Cuban national day.
For his part, Sulaiti, enthusiastically welcomed the proposal, saying,"At Katara we seek to provide a platform for showcasing artworks from different parts of the world. It stems from Katara's keenness to build communication bridges between people belonging to different cultures and shed light on various civilisations."
In the past, Katara has played host to a number of events that presented Cuban culture drawing crowds of visitors. 'Roots' festival held recently, for example, showcased art and culture of Latin American countries. Katara also hosted an exhibition of Cuban artist Ernesto Milanes Ruiz's works in December 2016, titled, 'Artista'.
