General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara, Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti, met the Ambassador of the Philippines to Qatar HE Alan L Timbayan during the latter's visit to Katara in Doha on Sunday.
The meeting was held with an aim to enhance cultural ties between Qatar and the Philippines through cooperation between the cultural entities of the two countries. They also discussed cultural activities for the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The ambassador said that the Philippines will be one of the countries showcasing their rich Islamic traditions during the upcoming Ramadan festival to be hosted by the Cultural Village. A Filipino folkloric performance is also planned during the Eid Al-Fitr celebrations at Katara.
The ambassador pointed out that these events offer an opportunity for everyone to get acquainted with different cultures and civilisations especially during the period of Ramadan, when families and communities come together in fellowship.
The Filipino ambassador went onto praise the bilateral relations between Qatar and the Philippines, and expressed his utmost appreciation and gratitude to Katara, for its continuous efforts in presenting different cultures to the public through performances, exhibitions, seminars and discussions, held throughout the year.
The meeting was in line with the vision of Katara to reach out to and showcase the cultures and traditions of other countries, by offering them a world-class venue to present their programmes to the residents of Qatar. (TNN)
