'FRIENDS of Nature' programme and the 'A Flower Each Spring' programme in cooperation with Ezdan Shopping Mall on Saturday evening observed the Earth Hour by switching off unnecessary lights in and outside the mall for one hour from 8:30pm to 9:30pm (local time).
In his remarks to QNA, Chairman of Friends of Nature Program Dr Saif al Hajari noted the importance of celebrating this global event to affirm and raise awareness of environmental threats, especially the threats of climate change, global warming, greenhouse gases and other environmental challenges facing the planet.
In this context, Hajari called on everyone to endeavour towards the necessary efforts to address"the environmental threats facing the humanity and to preserve the planet on which all of us live, thus providing a safe environment free of all pollutants and risks for present and future generations".
