Santhosh Chandran

The Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), an apex body of the Indian Embassy, presented the ICBF awards for humanitarian services, at a function in Doha recently.
With the aim of encouraging social service in the community, ICBF distributed ‘ICBF Kanjani Award’, ‘Humanitarian Award’ and ‘Appreciation Award’ to those who have tirelessly supported the philanthropic activities of ICBF.
Indian Ambassador P Kumaran, Ministry of Public Health Director Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed al Thani, Head of Community Police Lt Col Hamed Mohammed al Mohannadi, MoI Public Relations Officer Captain Shaheen Rashid al Atheeque, and Indian Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission RK Singh were among those present at the award ceremony.
Devidass Aswani received the ‘ICBF Kanjani’ Award for his tireless and continues social services.
Aswani shared this award with Harish Kanjani. Indian Ambassador Kumaran presented the awards to them.
Smitha Anil Kumar, Linsha Annie George, Rathi Pillai, Mohd. Ali Kurikkal Madatil, and Shahanas Cheriyaputhan Veedu received the ‘Humanitarian Awards’. The individuals and business houses who supported the ICBF activities and were nominated for ‘Appreciation Awards’ included Mannangi, Faisal al Hudaiwi, Aster Medical Centre, KIMS Qatar Medical Centre, Atlas Polyclinic and Wellcare Pharmacy. The Indian ambassador presented the awards.
The MoI felicitated ICBF on the occasion by presenting a memento for their commendable community services. Lt Col Hamed Zayed al Muhannadi and Captain Shaheen Rashid al Atheeque from the Ministry presented the memento to ICBF. The honour was received by Ambassador P Kumaran along with ICBF President Devis Edukulathur, Vice President PN Baburajan and Mahesh Gowda, the General Secretary.
Doha Bank Chief Executive Officer R Seetharaman was felicitated at the event for receiving the highest award for an expatriate from the government of India.
Noted social worker, businessmen and educationalist CV Rappai, was also felicitated during the event for being nominated to the position of Director of Non-Resident Keralites Affairs (Norka), a department of the Government of Kerala formed to redress the grievances of non-resident Keralites.
A music programme by Atarangi was the other highlight of the event. Those who attended the event included officials from different government departments, Indian Embassy, representatives of different sociocultural organisations, Indian workers from the Industrial Area, and fishermen from Al Wakra.
