THE Women's Wellness and Research Center (WWRC) is expected to start operations partially in May next year, an HMC official source has revealed.
The first phase of WWRC's work plan includes relocating the outpatient clinics first followed by relocation of maternity and newborn services, the source added.
According to the source, WWRC in cooperation with Sidra Medical and Research Center (Sidra) will ensure the best and consistent surgical services and treatments for women and children in the country.
Most of the surgeries on children will be performed at Sidra. Besides, most of the paediatric services have also been relocated to Sidra. In case,a newborn needs a surgical intervention, the case will be referred to the specialised medical team in Sidra for necessary action.
The source noted that the Qatar Neonatal Transport Programme, which was launched at Women's Hospital in collaboration with the HMC Ambulance Service recently, is one of the foundations for cooperation between WWRC and Sidra.
The source added that the Qatar Neonatal Transport Programme aims to provide efficient emergency service and specialised medical care for high-risk newborns.
Over 200 high-risk newborn cases have been transferred to the newborn Intensive Care Unit (ICU) so far and many newborns have been rescued with the prompt intervention of the specialised team supported by advanced equipment and devices, the source pointed out.
