Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani on Thursday visited the Kahramaa Awareness Park, part of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) in Al Hilal.
During the visit, HE the Prime Minister was briefed on the most important facilities at the park while presentation was made on the programmes and services offered to the visitors by the park as a centre for science and knowledge.
The prime minister was also briefed on regulations and technologies for electricity and water consumption rationalization as well as Kahramaa's future plans.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior then toured the park and the Dana Dome, which showcases 3D film about the importance of water and energy and also listened to an explanation for the life cycle of a drop of water and how to get and save it.
HE the Prime Minister also visited the power station that uses Virtual Reality Technology, in addition to the climate change and water areas.
The tour also included a visit to the Islamic corner which shows the role of Islam in achieving sustainability and the research and renewable energy area.
HE listened to an explanation about the importance of diversifying energy resources to reduce carbon emissions. Integrated models to create sustainable buildings through advanced techniques were also shown to HE the Premier.
HE then toured the external yard of the awareness park, which includes many supportive models of sustainability and renewable energy such as, the solar, wind and thermal energy. It is the only building in the state that uses three different energy resources.
HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister praised Kahramaa officials' role in raising the awareness of the various segments of the society to rationalise consumption of electricity and water and preserving environment and directed them to strengthen the role of the park in the community in collaboration with various state's entities to achieve its goal.
