Tennis player Rafal Nadal was seen boldly sporting a Richard Mille RM 27-02 timepiece worth $1.2 million during Australian Open in 2017. Founded in 2001, this new Swiss luxury brand has become the favourite of many at the ongoing Doha Jewellery& Watches Exhibition.
The brand defies the age-old notion that if your watch is heavier, it is expensive. Richard Mille presents you watches that are light and comfortable. The brand had produced a timepiece that weighed only 20 grammes for Nadal.
Peter Harrison, CEO said,"We are quite a young brand. We make very lively watches. We use modern techniques and materials. We make carbon watches and very lightweight watches.
The popularity of the brand can be gauged from the fact that the brand has already sold out its new collection.
"We produced ladies watches in carbon, but we have sold them all," said Peter Harrison. The watches were priced at QR250,000. He added,"We are making watches in small quantities. Our watches are easily identifiable by their shape. At one look, people know that they are Richard Mile."
The brand has one boutique in the Pearl-Qatar and will open its next store at Katara in January 2018.
The brand's target audience is young people who are not too worried about years of history behind the watch. They are not buying history but modern brands with modern techniques.
