Filipinos in Qatar kicked off events leading to the community's celebration of the 118th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine Independence with a Zumba session held at the Aswaj Recreation Center in Education City recently.
About 180 fitness enthusiasts took part in the activity titled 'Zumbang Pangkalusugan' (Zumba for Good Health) led by the Filipino Fitness and Health in Qatar (FFHQ), one of the most active and biggest community groups in the country, in collaboration with the United Filipino Organizations in Qatar (UFOQ) and the Philippine Embassy Doha.
UFOQ Chairman Ed Anami and Consul Gonaranao Musor delivered special messages on the occasion, urging Filipinos to be more involved in fitness activities in the community, which not only promote healthy living but also camaraderie among Filipinos.
"The event was very inspiring. When the music started, there was no way to stop the people from dancing and having fun. Everyone was in high spirits during the activity," said FFHQ Chairman Randy Frogosa.
The team of 12 volunteer Zumba instructors led by Marvin Dumaguin Abaredes guided the participants during the special session. Instructors from Venezuela, Morocco, UK and the USA also joined in the fun.
"On behalf of the Filipino licensed Zumba instructors in Qatar, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude for all those who have been continuously supporting FFHQ. We are all grateful to be able to share our passion in Zumba and fitness with residents of Qatar across nationalities and ages. We look forward to the community's involvement in our regular sessions and other projects," Abaredes remarked.
Appreciation tokens were also distributed to the volunteer instructors and members of the organising team on the occasion.
