Careem, the app-based, car-booking service, has launched services in Al Wakrah, adding to its existing map that comprises Doha. This new market is set to benefit from Careem's range of convenient transportation services that will include the Economy option upon its launch.
In August 2016, Careem announced its official partnership with the Ministry of Transportation and Communication in Qatar, strengthening its existence within the hospitable ecosystem and ensuring reliable services to all users.
"The expansion is a testament to the increasing demand for a safe, comfortable and affordable ride in Qatar," said Careem Emerging Markets GM Ibrahim Manna.
"In less than 6 months we managed to double our fleet in the market and are growing 30 percent month on month. We are dedicated to serving the ever-growing transportation needs in Qatar and, in the process, open new avenues of employment in more cities."
He added:"In the coming years, Qatar will assume a greater significance for our operations, especially as the country is geared towards hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2022 and expanding its tourism sector. Generating employment, strengthening the country's transportation ecosystem and engaging with local communities will be at the heart of our efforts."
In addition to giving residents a convenient option to travel between the country's cities, Careem's entry into the city of Al Wakrah is well-positioned to serve residents and visitors with a safe transport experience within the city as well as to and from Doha.
Careem users will have access to complete information on their Captains who drive them around their cities as well as a dedicated call centre manned by 200 multi-lingual employees.
In order for users to try out the new Careem service, free rides will be given to users on January 3. Enter promo code ALWAKRAH to redeem your free ride within Al Wakrah.
