President of Poland Andrzej Duda met with HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim al Thani, Qatar's ambassador to Belgium and Permanent Representative to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on the sidelines of the Senior Executive Regional Conference held in Rome.
During the meeting, they discussed the role of Qatar as member of Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) as well as aspects of cooperation between the ICI member states and the NATO.
In his speech during the regional conference, the Polish president focused on the NATO future plan and Poland's host of the upcoming NATO summit in the capital Warsaw in July.
On his part, Sheikh Ali underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation between the ICI member states and the NATO in various fields, especially in the political and security areas.
He noted that the upcoming NATO summit in Warsaw should discuss this cooperation, suggesting the ICI countries should be represented at the highest levels.
The Senior Executive Regional Conference, organised by the NATO Defense College, aims at analysing different views concerning the Arabian Gulf region and the Mediterranean in order to promote common concepts at the regional level, and topics of interest to the NATO and its partners in the Arabian Gulf and the Mediterranean regions.
The summit is being attended by officials from the presidency of NATO and its alliance and decision-makers, diplomats and intellectuals from the Arab Gulf and the Mediterranean countries.
