Prime Minister and Minister of interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani, in the presence of King Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa of Bahrain, attended the Arabian Gulf Security 1 exercise which was held in Bahrain on Wednesday.
The exercise was also attended by a number of princes, ministers and senior officials and military officers from the GCC countries.
The exercise started with parade by the GCC Joint Armed Forces, which included exercises of anti-terrorism teams, equipment overland intrusion equipment and air support snipers exercises, to improve coordination and cooperation level to counter security risks and ways to maintain the installations and security facilities.
It also included parade and presentations by forces of rapid intervention, anti-explosives teams, combat units, special forces as well as land and marine armoured military and infantry vehicles.
The prime minister also attended a luncheon banquet held by Bahrain's Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Bahrain Defence Force and First Deputy Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad al Khalifa at the Royal Academy of Police in honour of the delegations participating in Arabian Gulf Security 1 exercise. A number of ranking officials attended the banquet.
Earlier, the prime minister met his Bahraini counterpart Prince Khalifa bin Salman al Khalifa. They reviewed the fraternal relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing and strengthening them in all fields. Bahrain's Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Ali bin Khalifa al Khalifa also attended the meeting.
On arrival at Isa Air Base, the premier was welcome by Bahrain's Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman al Khalifa, Bahrain's Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Ali bin Khalifa al Khalifa, GCC Secretary-General Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid al Zayani, Qatar's Ambassador to Bahrain HE Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Saud al Thani and the Qatari Embassy staff.
