BEDAYA Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Center), a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Silatech, recently celebrated the top three winners of the best healthy and environmentally friendly project idea in Qatar for 2016 by hosting a health project forum.
The forum was organised by the entrepreneurship department at Bedaya in collaboration with Ministry of Public Health and Ezdan Mall.
During the forum, visitors were introduced to 15 startups, who currently have their businesses operating in the green and health areas. They also had the opportunity to listen to and interact with the speakers who specialised in the fields of health, nutrition and entrepreneurship from the Ministry of Public Health.
Also present on the occasion were Ghanem al Sulaiti, owner of ‘EverGreen', Qatar's first Vegan restaurant, and Abdul Rahman al Zoeid, owner of ZWD, a retailer for innovative machines targeting sports and health.
On this occasion, Reem al Suwaidi, general manager of Bedaya Center, said:"Qatar is growing in the field of projects that raise awareness on healthy living. So, we too have committed ourselves to providing an opportunity for entrepreneurs by setting up a forum dedicated to green and healthy projects. This will facilitate an exchange of views between the owners of those projects and specialists in the field of health and nutrition. We can also support entrepreneurs to develop their business and keep up with the evolution of green and health projects industry."
"The green and healthy startup forum was able to attract attendees to get closely acquainted with successful experiences in this field. We foresee that it will pave the way for many more who are interested in entering this sector, which is experiencing a remarkable development in the number of health and green projects, thereby supporting the Qatar National Vision 2030," she added.
The competition itself witnessed a great enthusiasm among participants and the first position was awarded to Nada al Sulaiti for her project ‘Health Corner', while Sarah Abou Ajinah was placed in the second position for her project ‘Women Power'. The third place was granted to Omar al Khanji and Marcel Franze for their project ‘Jebal Qatar'.
