With fresh donations, the books were handed over to Director of Heritage Library QNL Stephane Ipert during a low-key event held in the presence of AMUAQ office bearers and select members.
The donation included a collection of about 10 books and two portraits of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the founder of Aligarh Muslim University. The books were acquired by AMUAQ from India.
The handover took place in MoPH premises in presence of Shahid Yar Khan, a senior Alig and founding member of AMUAQ; Er Ziauddin Ahmad, senior advisor–AMUAQ; Er Asif Rahmany, senior Alig and deputy president Engineers Australia; and AMUAQ office bearers Dr Syed Jaffery (president), Er Zeyaul Haque (VP), Imtiaz Jawed (general secretay), Asif Khan (director, sports), Nazia Ahmad (director, media affairs), Nuzhat Alam (director, events), Javed Sultan (coordinator, events), Mohammad Ahmad (joint treasurer), and Mohammad Sultan (executive).
Stephane Ipert thanked AMUAQ and accepted the portraits of Sir Syed and appreciated the book donations which will be mentioned in the QNL catalogue. He expressed his willingness to collaborate with AMUAQ in near future to hold some more events.
Dr Syed Jaffery thanked Stephane Ipert for partnering with AMUAQ and the AMUAQ team for organising the event at a short notice and voiced happiness on setting up of “Sir Syed Corner” at QNL.
He said this will help people in Qatar and the Middle East to know more about the great reformer of his time, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, and benefit from the literature now available at QNL. This step will increase the footfall and interest of Aligs and researchers in QNL, he added. Er Zeyaul Haque thanked the Director of QNL and the participating Aligs on the occasion.
