Qatar Charity (QC) has provided three regional hospitals in Tunisia with advanced medical equipment, according to a framework agreement signed between QC and the Tunisian Ministry of Health.
The equipment, which was delivered in two installments, was applauded by authorities, doctors, patients and citizens due to its great impact in the field of health.
The project, which was implemented with the support from the philanthropists in Qatar, aimed to improve the medical services at the hospitals and reduce the economic burden on the families of patients and those in need of health services.
The equipment and devices were delivered to El Kef Regional Hospital, Siliana Regional Hospital and Kasserine Hospital.
QC, through such health projects, seeks to improve the health services, especially those provided by the hospitals of the densely populated and remote areas, which suffer from a shortage of the necessary equipment.
The delivered medical equipment and devices include those necessary for surgery, emergency, intensive care, recovery and ophthalmology departments.
Mohamed Chermiti, chairman of the Tunisian Medical Committee, thanked the philanthropists in Qatar for their generous support and QC for its humanitarian work to help the underprivileged around the world. He noted that these devices and equipment will have a positive impact in the health field, and will help improve health services provided to patients in the region. He also hoped for the continuation of cooperation and joint work with QC in the health sector.
Dr Sonia Al-Wasiti, head of the Ophthalmology Department at El Kef Regional Hospital, appreciated the efforts of QC in developing the health sector. She indicated that the medical devices and equipment will enhance the capabilities of the hospital’s health system, improve its health services, and help the medical workers to provide better services to the public.
She noted that the devices and equipment delivered by QC are very advanced, and will enable the medical staff of the ophthalmology department to diagnose diseases in a short time and reduce costs for patients.
