Doha Academy has announced that its Al Waab and Salwa schools have achieved Qatar National School Accreditation (QNSA) from the Ministry of Education’s ‘School Evaluation Department’.
Following the week-long inspections of Doha Academy Al Waab School in February 2022 and Doha Academy Salwa School in March 2022, the visiting accreditation teams evaluated and measured the schools’ performance based on five standards encompassing all aspects of the schools’ operational and strategic functioning. The team of inspectors thoroughly reviewed the academic, administrative, managerial and health and safety (physical) standards of the schools.
Subsequently both schools were awarded three-years’ accreditation. The accreditation was given for their “commitment to the vision of achieving the principles of the educational system in Qatar, towards consistent school improvement, and quality assurance”, the School Evaluation Department said. Both schools were deemed by the QNSA inspectors “able to achieve the required quality standards in school performance”.
The positive impact and clear direction of the schools enabled a most favourable commentary in their report.
The Doha Academy Al Waab school inspection report said: “The school provides programmes and various activities that support the Qatari identity and Islamic culture. “The role of the Parents’ Council in school life and its ability to monitor the needs of the school and cooperate with the school administration in solving them is high.
“The school has strong communication and effective partnership with the various community institutions.”
The report also noted the “Positive relations between teachers and students.”
It said: “Arabic language department teachers have high performance in the application of teaching strategies, which was positively reflected in the high level of language skills among students.’
It also took note of the fact that the various achievements of students (academic and non-academic) are celebrated by the school to encourage a sense of pride in the school.
Implementation of an effective academic guidance programme to raise students’ awareness of their career paths and recruitments of various universities and the active and effective role of the student council in communicating the students’ voices and participation in decision-making were also mentioned in the report.
Upon receiving Al Waab’s notice of accreditation, Doha Academy Principal Harvey Trump said, “The mission and vision of Doha Academy was fundamental to its success and is clearly embedded in the Schools to ensure the highest possible level of achievement for all ages, from EYFS to Year 13.”
Doha Academy Salwa school inspection report noted the schools efforts for “strengthening the national identity and Qatari culture, and instilling Islamic values among students.”
It also mentioned the awareness and ability of the school leadership to define its goals and develop appropriate plans to achieve them.
The report mentioned implementation of clear, comprehensive and declared policies for the conduct of school work and their positive impact on the management and organisation of various aspects of work.
Other highlights of the report included effective communication between employees and its positive impact on facilitating the workflow in the school; effective partnership with various community institutions; comprehensiveness of the curriculum and its compatibility with the school’s vision, mission, and goals, with the desired expectations of students; commendations for the teaching of Mathematics and Science and the progress and development of students’ performance.
Upon receiving Salwa’s notice of accreditation, Head of School / Accreditation Manager Edward Cooper said, “I could not be prouder of Salwa School – its students, staff, and parents – in receiving national recognition for its ability to accurately self-evaluate and demonstrably improve in all areas. We are delighted to make such good progress in moving Salwa forward in the last 12 months.”
Dr Sheikha Aisha Bint Faleh Al Thani, Founder and Chairperson of Al Faleh Educational Holding commented: “This significant milestone reflects the unremitting and distinguished efforts of the involved parties including DA employees (academic, administrative, and managerial staff), parents and student communities who are determined to ensure personal and collective success across the Schools. I would like to extend heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to all the stakeholders for this achievement. We recognise that this success was only made possible through teamwork, shared values, and the ongoing support of the Board of Directors.”
