Jakarta Indonesia summoned Britain’s ambassador on Monday after the embassy came under fire from conservative Muslim groups and politicians for flying a rainbow flag in support of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community.
The British embassy in Jakarta posted a photo last week showing a rainbow flag flying alongside the Union Jack to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).  “Sometimes it is important to take a stand for what you think is right, even if disagreement between friends can be uncomfortable,” read the text accompanying the photo.
Conservative Muslim leaders and politicians accused the British embassy of disrespecting Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority country where many view homosexuality as a vice. (afp)
