His Highness the Amir of State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and HM King Felipe VI of Spain held a meeting at the Palace of Zarzuela in Madrid on Tuesday. At the outset of the meeting, HM the King welcomed HH the Amir, wishing him a pleasant stay in Spain and for bilateral relations further development and growth in all fields.
HH the Amir expressed his thanks to HM the King for the good reception and generous hospitality, adding that he looks forward to enhance friendship and cooperation ties between Qatar and Spain in different fields. The meeting reviewed bilateral relations and the means to enhance them in political, economic, commercial, and cultural fields.
HH the Amir and HH Consort of HH the Amir Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani attended a luncheon banquet held by HM King Felipe VI of Spain and HM Queen Letizia at the Palace of Zarzuela. Earlier upon arrival at the Royal Palace of Madrid, HH the Amir was accorded an official reception ceremony.
HM King Felipe VI of Spain and HM Queen Letizia led the well-wishers of His Highness and HH Consort of HH the Amir Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani upon their arrival. The ceremony started with both Qatari and Spanish national anthems before HH the Amir reviewed the Guard of Honor.
His Highness was also accorded a 21-gun salute welcome, after which His Highness and Her Highness shook hands with members of the official Spanish delegation and ranking officials. HM the King and Queen of Spain also shook hands with member of the official delegation accompanying His Highness.
Afterwards, His Highness and HM King Felipe VI of Spain viewed a military parade by the Spanish Royal Guard and the Royal Cavalry. The two sides then held a meeting to review bilateral friendship and cooperation ties, in addition to exchanging views on a number of issues of mutual interest. The meeting was attended by the Consort of HH the Amir and the Queen of Spain.
