HEC Paris in Qatar, one of the leading executive education providers worldwide, has hosted a session with the Qatar HR Forum where the recently published book ‘Futureproof Your Career: How to Lead and Succeed in a Changing World,’ authored by Dr. Shaheena Janjuha-Jivraj, HEC Paris Associate Professor in collaboration with Dr. Naeema Pasha, Director of Careers and Professional Development at the UK’s Henley Business School, has been presented.
The Qatar HR Forum session, focussed on recent changes in the workplace environment and how to navigate them, was held at the new HEC Paris in Qatar digitally advanced campus in Msheireb Downtown. During the session, the executive education provider’s Associate Professor in Entrepreneurial Leadership and Gender Diversity Dr. Shaheena Janjuha-Jivraj held a two-hour discussion with Najat El Mahdy, Director Strategy, OD and Human Resources, and QHRF Chair, about new workplace environments.
“The discussion has focused on recent changes to workplaces but also explored how professionals need to cope with new working conditions and manage them for their own development,” explained El Mahdy.
“The Qatar HR Forum event is a gathering for the regional presentation of Dr Shaheena´s book. Based on her academic research, she has written a practical guide to futureproofing careers and getting ahead in today’s highly competitive job market,” explained HEC Paris in Qatar Dean, Dr. Pablo Martin de Holan. “By drawing upon the authors’ academic research, upon international case studies and interviews, this book provides readers with robust insights into the future of work. I am sure HR professionals within Qatar will greatly benefit from it.”
With a major focus on today’s changing business, economic and technological landscape, the book, which is available in paperback, audiobook, and e-book versions, explores the new challenges of job retention and career progression. It has received industry acclaim with Erem Kassum-Lakha, Partner at Mckinsey & Company declaring it “an inspiring and highly engaging read;” and Gwen Hines, CEO of Save The Children UK crediting the authors with having set “a compelling vision for a more people-centered, impact-led approach to navigate the next normal.”
Dr. Janjuha-Jivraj, a highly acclaimed speaker in diversity, innovation, and leadership who has worked with governments, public organizations, NGOs and corporates to support cultural transformation for innovation, commented: “With the impact of the pandemic, the ongoing fourth industrial revolution, the broadening awareness of institutionalized discrimination and the concerns around an economic recession, it is an understatement to say that we’re entering a ‘new normal’ in which working patterns and career trajectories have irreversibly changed.”
“We have endeavored, and we believe have succeeded, in identifying key insights into how jobs and networking are transforming, in providing readers with the ability to develop a stronger awareness of new opportunities and become better prepared to safeguard their jobs and bolster their careers in this entirely new landscape.”
This is the third book co-authored by Dr. Janjuha-Jivraj who is a regular Forbes contributor. She has previously co-authored the books ‘Championing Women Leadership, Beyond Sponsorship’ and ‘Succession in Asian Family Firms.’
