After its rehabilitation, Al Karaana lake has become a new habitat for wildlife and aquatic life, providing a natural and healthy environment for different types of birds.
The Ministry of Municipality has confirmed that Al Karaana lake has also become an essential resting station for the migratory birds that constantly pass through Qatar. Located 60 km southwest of Doha, Al Karaana Lake has been used since 2006 to receive about six thousand cubic metres per day of industrial liquid waste, which led to the accumulation of sediments at the bottom of the lakes.
