Qatar has announced a $2 million contribution to address the threat posed by the floating oil tanker “Safer” off the Yemeni coast.
This came in Qatar’s speech, delivered by Qatar’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands HE Nasser bin Ibrahim Al Langawi, at the high-level pledging conference for Yemen, co-sponsored by the UN and the government of the Netherlands, to address the threat of “Safer” oil tanker.
Al Langawi hailed UN’s continued efforts to negotiate with the authorities in Sana’a as well as the Yemeni government regarding the floating oil tanker “Safer” off the Yemeni coast, and the role played by UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen David Gressly.
He expressed sincere appreciation for the Netherlands’ invitation to Qatar to participate in this conference, in order to meet the immediate need to transport oil on board the Safer tanker and to avoid the environmental threat.
