Qatar-born doctor Alia Sarfaraz has opened a private health centre, Malik Medical Clinic, with the help of her father Malik Sarfaraz Khan, on Adyla Road at Gorakhpur in Rawalpindi.
The clinic was recently inaugurated by Chairman of Haq Sach Group and noted political leader Raja Khubaib. He was accompanied by renowned businessman and politician Babar Khan.
“The clinic is located in a backward area where there are no certified doctors and patients have to travel long distances to seek medical assistance. My daughter always wanted to serve underprivileged people. Our clinic will serve inhabitants of around 100 villages at very nominal rates. We will soon hold free medical camps in different areas for the deserving patients,” said Khan, the proud father of Dr Alia.
Khan, a resident of Qatar for five decades, is Chairman of Qatar-based socio-literary forum Safeeran-e-Watan and has spent a very active social life. After his retirement, he has settled in Pakistani but keeps visiting Qatar frequently.
“I chose to become a doctor because I enjoy caring for people. I always wanted to serve humanity. With the help of my father my dream has come true. I strongly believe that Almighty Allah helps those whose aim is to serve the humanity and whose efforts and endeavors are devoted to the good and betterment of all mankind.
“I am thankful to the teachers of PEC and especially former principal Brig (retd) Allah Bakhsh for providing us best education. Students of PEC can contact me for any assistance if they want to pursue medicine,” said Dr Alia, who also holds a diploma in medical jurisprudence.
Dr Alia is currently working as an Assistant Professor of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at Islamabad Medical and Dental College (IMDC). She teaches at the college in the morning and visits her private clinic in the evening where well-qualified male and female physicians, Dr Shahid Hussain, Dr Sami, Dr Saiqa and Dr Farah take care of patients. She is head of the clinic while her father is chairman.
IMDC is the first medical institute to have introduced the subject of Forensic Medicine in Medical Lab Technology Department. The chairman of the college is Dr Ghulam Akbar Khan Niazi while Dr Akbar Niazi is managing director.
