NHRC chief chosen as GANHRI president

The Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) chose Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah as President for the next three years. She succeeds Dr Carlos Alfonso Negret. During the meeting, Al Attiyah thanked the trust placed in her, stressing her commitment to carrying out her duties transparently. She also reiterated her commitment to supporting human rights institutions that are facing challenges as a result of humanitarian crises and wars. (QNA)
