The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has expanded the COVID-19 vaccine booster vaccinations. The drive-through COVID-19 testing centre in Lusail will begin administering booster doses from January 26, 2022.
This was announced by the Ministry of Public Health on Tuesday.
“From Wednesday, six lanes of the 10-lane drive-through centre will be dedicated to booster vaccinations, while the remaining four lanes will continue to offer COVID-19 testing for eligible groups,” the MoPH said.
The centre will provide booster vaccinations, not first and second doses, to the public from this Wednesday by invitation only through an appointment system during the opening hours of 8 am to 10 pm.
To receive a booster dose at the Lusail centre, individuals require an invitation appointment SMS identifying their time slot and will be seen on a first-come-first basis, at any time during those operational hours.
The Ministry of Public Health is administering COVID-19 vaccine booster doses for all individuals after six months from receiving their second COVID-19 vaccine dose.
The decision is in line with the clinical evidence supporting the additional protective effect of a booster dose and showing that for most people protective immunity obtained from their primary vaccine series gradually starts to decline after six months.
Anyone who is eligible and has not yet been contacted can call the PHCC hotline on 40277077 to schedule an appointment.
COVID-19 vaccination appointments can also be made via PHCC’s mobile app, Nar’aakom.
The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) now offers COVID-19 vaccine booster doses to individuals after six months from receiving their second COVID-19 vaccine dose. The booster vaccine doses that are administered in Qatar are from Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna.
