The 53rd Cairo International Book Fair begins today (Wednesday), and will continue until February 7 with the participation of 1,067 publishing houses from 51 countries, including Qatar.
A group of Qatari publishing houses will participate in the 2022 exhibition, including Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKU Press) and Katara Publishing House. Under the title ‘Egypt’s Identity -- Culture & the Question of the Future’, the book fair is being organised amid COVID-19 precautionary measures.
Late Egyptian writer and novelist Yehia Haqi was chosen as the main character of the book fair, while late writer Abdel Tawab Youssef was chosen as the main character for the Children’s Book Fair.
Greece is the guest of honour of the 2022 Cairo International Book Fair.
The exhibition management announced a new award this year for the best Arab publishing house, in cooperation with the Arab Publishers Union, in addition to other prizes offered by the exhibition every year announced on the last day of its activities.
