A study conducted by Stanford University (USA) showed results of the top two percent of the world’s most-cited scientists during 2020, and the top two percent of the world’s most-cited scientists for career-long citation.
In the study, the first list included 80 scientists from Qatar University (QU) and the second list included 39 scientists. A noticeable increase in the list of scientists from QU is recorded in this year’s study, with an increase of almost 20 percent in the first list, and an increase of almost 30 percent in the second list.
The top two percent list includes more than 100,000 of millions of researchers, selected by combining several metrics for a systematic ranking using the data that was extracted from Scopus until August 1, 2021.
On this achievement, Prof Mariam Al Maadeed, vice president for Research and Graduate Studies at QU, commented: “Qatar University is proud of having such distinguished scientists within its campus. Having this number of scientists from Qatar University among this list proves that the university is achieving success in preparing highly skilled personnel, producing high quality research and seeking leadership in research and education. This is in addition to the continuous efforts of the university in establishing an innovative structure in the fields of research, education and community service, so that the university continues to be an attractive and inspiring scientific beacon for all.”
