Qatar is bracing for the coldest spell so far this season as strong winds that are expected to sweep over the country from Tuesday are likely to bring temperatures down to as low as 8°C this week.
The apparent temperatures might be even less than that in the southern and outer areas, the Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has said. This cold spell is expected to be the coldest so far this season.
In a statement, the QMD said scattered rain is expected to continue until Tuesday, and it may turn into thundery at times in some areas.
Fresh to strong Northwesterly winds will start from Tuesday morning and will continue until the end of this week over most areas, which leads to blowing dust and low horizontal visibility, the sea wave offshore will rise to more than 10 ft.
The QMD has urged all to be careful and to avoid marine activities.
