The Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association Qatar (AMUAAQ) celebrated the installation ceremony of its new Managing Committee on January 14, in Doha.
The programme started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by Mamnoon Ahmad Bangash. The achievements of the association were briefed by M Farman Khan and a vote of thanks was proposed by M Faisal Naseem. The programme was compered by Dr Ashna Nusrat.
Dr Nadeem Zafar Jilani, president of AMUAAQ, announced the portfolio of the newly elected Managing Committee: 1. Dr. Nadeem Zafar Jilani – President, 2. Dr. Syed Intekhab Alam - Head of Health Care, 3. Mohammed Faisal Naseem - Vice President, 4. Mohammed Farman Khan - General Secretary, 5. Mamnoon Ahmad Bangash - Head of membership and Captain Cricket, 6. Dr. Ashna Nusrat - Vice President (Ladies Membership), 7. Farrukh Ali Farooqi - Head of Sports (Cricket, Football, TT, Badminton), 8. Ghazala Yasmeen - Head of Literary and Cultural activity, 9. Dr. Shima Sadaf - Head of Training and Development, 10. Mohammed Nayeem – Head of Toastmaster membership, and 11. Abad Ahmed Khan – Head of associate membership.
Dr Nadeem Zafar Jilani, medical director of Sidra Child Advocacy Programme, was elected as the president of AMUAAQ on January 7, 2022.
First international release of the book titled ‘Aligarh Muslim University’ was held by AMUAAQ at a glittering function at Oasis Beach Club hotel in Doha on January 14, 2022. Author of the book, renowned journalist Mohammed Wajihuddin, an alumnus of AMU, also addressed the meeting via videoconferencing.
Dr Nadeem Zafar Jilani unveiled the book in presence of executive members, dignitaries and senior Aligs. Jawed Ahmad, outgoing president of AMUAAQ, congratulated Wajihuddin for writing such an excellent book laced with history, anecdotes and references to contemporary issues. Mamnoon Bangash read selected passages from the book for the audience.
During his address, Dr. Nadeem said, “I will strive my best for the welfare of the Indians in Qatar, while working closely with the ICBF, Indian Embassy and other forums. Service to an Indian is service to our motherland India.” Dr Nadeem Zafar Jilani hails from Bihar.
The AMUAAQ is a non-profitable organisation affiliated to the ICBF, which functions under the aegis of Embassy of India Qatar. The forum was established by Jawed Ahmad, supported by Mohammed Farman Khan, Mohammed Faisal Naseem, Dr Ashna Nusrat, Dr Nadeem Zafar Jilani, Mamnoon Ahmad Bangash and Farrukh Ali Farooqui.
The event culminated with AMU Tarana and a sumptuous Indian dinner.
