COVID-19 booster dose enhances immunity and one may not need hospital admission if infected, a senior Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) official has said.
Answering questions related to COVID-19 vaccine booster dose, MoPH Head of Vaccination Dr Soha Al Bayat said, “Recent scientific studies have shown that the third or the booster dose further enhances your immunity and can give you up to 75 percent protection from mild to moderate disease. All the recent unfortunate deaths have not received any of the doses of the vaccine. And the majority of those in the ICU have either not taken their vaccines at all or taken only the first and the second doses. All of this shows the importance of taking the third booster dose to further protect you at least from severe infection.”
According to her if someone has received the booster dose they can still get infected but the symptoms may not be severe. “Taking the booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will give you protection from mild to moderate infection. So yes you may still get the infection but you may not need hospital care or hospital admission,” she added. page 2
