The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has made adjustments to the way services are provided in its health centres in order to protect public health in view of the rising number of new COVID-19 infections in Qatar and the emergence of the Omicron variant all over the world.
According to PHCC, the family medicine model, integrated care, and specialized services will operate at 50 percent capacity in regards to in-person consultations and 50 percent virtual consultations. General and specialized dental services will also be reduced to 50 percent with face-to-face consultations and virtual consultations when needed.
The services of the Well Baby Clinic will continue to operate at a capacity of 100 percent, while work in the Smart Clinics will be postponed until further notice, so that all Smart consultations will be conducted by default.
Virtual consultations, whether by phone or video, will also be provided in all PHCC health centres, where available, and the community call center will continue to operate as usual.
The PHCC stated that all members of society can continue to benefit from the Nar’aakom application for smart phones, which provides a comprehensive and integrated digital management of health care.
In addition, the examination service for COVID-19 will be provided from drive throughs in 14 health centres from 4-11 pm daily, while vaccination services against COVID-19 will continue at a capacity of 100 percent.
Senior Consultant in Family Medicine and Executive Director of the Operations Department at PHCC Dr Samya Al Abdulla said that adapting primary care capacity to meet changing requirements comes as part of PHCC’s ongoing commitment to protecting and serving the community, while ensuring that services remain easily and safely accessible to all members of society.
