The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants Doha LLC (G) (PICPA Doha) donated food, animal essentials and cleaning materials for rescued animals at the Qatar Animal Welfare Society (QAWS) as part of their CSR activities.
Headed by PICPA Doha President Abdul Rahim G Gandamra, the initiative aims to support QAWS’ nationwide campaign to encourage citizens and residents to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home stray and abandoned animals in Qatar.
Funded purely by public donations along with offer of support from volunteers, QAWS is a temporary home to over 150 animals looking for new families and is a permanent home to over 50 animals that are not suitable for rehoming for one reason or the other.
Besides making the donation, the volunteers also walked dogs, cuddled cats and spent time learning the needs of the animals. The event aimed not only to contribute and donate food and animal essentials, but also instil the spirit of volunteerism among PICPA Doha members and non-members.
“True to our commitment in intensifying our CSR activities and strengthening social engagement within our community which focuses on the physical and mental wellness of our members, PICPA Doha was ecstatic to collaborate with QAWS in raising animal welfare awareness among our members and to the general community,” said Gandamra. He also encouraged everyone to extend their assistance to animals and emphasised the importance of kindness and compassion to all living things including animals as the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) once said, “Verily, there is heavenly reward for every act of kindness done to a living animal.”
PICPA Doha members and associates comprise a diverse mix of finance professionals with a myriad of work experiences from different industry groups.
