Tunisian authorities had issued an international arrest warrant for the 25-year-old, Italian police announced on Thursday. Interpol had identified him as a member of the terrorist group Islamic State. On September 16, he entered the European Union via the Italian island of Lampedusa. According to the investigation, he wanted to travel through Italy to northern Europe. According to the investigators, they found out that the man was living under a false name in northern Italy in the province around the lagoon city of Venice. They brought him to the repatriation centre in Gradisca d’Isonzo near the town of Gorizia, which borders on Austria, for extradition to Tunisia.
