Hamad General Hospital’s Medical Director Dr Yousef Al Maslamani has revealed that as many as 70,000 booster doses have been given so far, without any serious side effects, hospitalisation or deaths.
In an interview with Qatar TV on Wednesday, Al Maslamani said the approval of the third dose in Qatar was given on the basis of scientific research, stressing that the immunity against COVID-19 began to decrease six months after the second dose, and the vaccinated became vulnerable to infection with the virus, not of course like those who have not received any vaccination.
“So, we recommend the third dose,” he added.
In response to the rumours of the third dose, he said, “We regret that some people go to unreliable authorities to take information. In Qatar there is a reliable source, which is the Ministry of Public Health.”
